I would just like to say a big well done to everyone in Reception Class for working so hard this year, you have achieved so much.
When I look back I can see how much you have all grown up. You have worked so hard at learning to read and to write, to add up numbers and to take away. But most of all you have learned to be kind and helpful towards each other and to be good friends.
In other words, I think you are all Reception Class Super Heroes and I hope you have a fab holiday.
And remember…keep blogging!!!
Lots of love

P.S. Can you count the kisses in 5′s?

Here is Britannia Bear ready to go to Russia. He has with him:
A letter from Reception Class, a Union Jack flag, his birth certificate and his passport.
We wanted the Russian children to be able to join in with our Jubilee celebrations. So we also sent party blowers, tooters and a mix for them to make jubilee cakes. Hope they enjoy them!
Libby, Rachel, Harrison and Benjamin took our parcel to the Post Office near to school.
When they arrived at the Post Ofice, the children had wait their turn before reaching the counter.
The man behind the counter weighed our parcel and then Miss Taylor paid for the postage. Bon Voyage Britannia Bear, have a safe trip!

Reception Class were very excited when a special delivery arrived. We are doing a ‘Teddy Bear Exchange’ with a school in Russia and just before Half Term a parcel arrived addressed to Reception Class. We noticed how different the writing was on the box. Russian letters don’t look like English letters but we used our ‘reading detective’ clues to work out the label. We could see a picture of a cow so we think the label said ‘milk’!
Inside our parcel we found Mishutka the bear. He had with him his friend Masha who speaks Russian when you press her and a Russian flag. We introduced them to our bear Britannia. He will be travelling all the way to Russia very soon.
He also brought a set of fabulous Russian dolls. They are very special because they all fit inside each other. We estimated how many we thought there would be and then counted them all when we reached the smallest doll. There are six altogether.

At St Andrew’s we are discovering a new way of learning-on an iPad.
Reception children have discovered the app ‘Pocket Phonics’ which supports phoneme knowledge and letter formation. They have been working independently and in small groups, helping each other with ‘colaborative learning’.

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Reception Class invited mums and dads and grandmas and grandads to afternoon tea. As you can see from the photographs the food was great, the weather was scorching and a good time was had by all….!
